Concept Ki Rin

The Ki-Rin (or sometimes spelled Ki-Lin) is the Oriental version of the Unicorn. It is a Dragon who is said to come to earth only when the birth of a great philosopher is born. They are drawn to purity of spirit, and are described as having the head and body of a deer and the scales of a fish.

There are these old sculptures that I recall having from my childhood (I no longer own them) which were a family of these creatures, and they sort of reminded me of ferrets more than deer... anyway, I toyed with the idea of giving it a more Alpaca/Llama type of look...

Im not entirely satisfied with the way this one turned out... I like the idea of having white Koi fish scales across the body, and I am thinking it needs this white fur "fringe" like the feathering of a Saluki hound... I've got this very clear vision of these large liquid eyes also, but the trimmings of how to orniment the head (does it have antlers or just a mane of hair, does it have ears, and if so what are they shaped like? etc) her image is still not quite focused in my mind as yet...
