Palomino Andalusian Zorse

Back when I was doing alot of Zorse illustrations, I decided to make an effort to concentrate on specific types of horse combinations, because each different type of horse will create a different look bred to a Zebra.

After many illustrations of different Zorse breeds and colors being ridden in a casual manner, it occured to me that the simple sketch of them being ridden was lacking something... charicter. So I decided instead to begin concentrating on showcaseing the breed traits with the Zorse imposed ontop of them, and trying to capture the ESSENCE of the breed through its defining traits rather than simply illustrating the different animals being ridden.

I had in my mind several different shapes, and focused on conformation before adding stripes... obviously she didnt recieve her stripes yet, but you can tell by the shape of her ears that she is intended to be a Zorse (Zebras have more rounded "Satelite dish" style ears than horses, and Zorses get a "somewhere in the middle style of ear) Anyway this is "Solara" the golden Andalusian Zorse.

She has been in this state since the late 1990s... when my attention was drawn away from Zorses and Zebras and I finally got my hands on the kind of horses that I truly desired, then they obviously took over priority in my life. I am thinking of perhaps going back and working with her a little more now... it seems sad to me that she's been left in this state for such a very long time... but that will have to wait until I actually HAVE the time to spend playing with her again...

Anyway I thought since I really like her, I would share her with the world, even such as she is, because there is just something about her I find charming...
